Matt Lauer, reaches the BIG 055 on December 30th: Happy Birthday to you!

" We fine broadcasters for using four-letter words, we say that's offensive. So is it offensive to call for the assassination of a world leader? "
~~ Matt Lauer

American television journalist best known as the host of NBC's The Today Show since 1996

According to many in the NYC streets, Matt Lauer has been naughty to his former co-anchor, Ann Curry. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate his big 055 Birthday! Happy 55th birthday to Matt Lauer, American television journalist best known as the host of NBC's The Today Show since 1996. Born Matthew Todd "Matt" Lauer in New York City, (December 30, 1957) to Marilyn Kolmer, a boutique owner, and Jay Robert Lauer, a bicycle-company executive. His parents divorced during his youth, and his father died in 1997.

Lauer was married from 1982 until 1989 to a television producer named Nancy Alspaugh. The marriage ended in divorce. From 1989 until 1996, he dated Kristen Gesswein, a television newscaster. They were briefly engaged.

In 1998, he married Annette Roque, a Dutch model known as "Jade." During Roque's pregnancy with their third child in 2006, she and Lauer separated. Although Roque filed for divorce in Manhattan Supreme Court on September 13, 2006, the couple subsequently reconciled.

Lauer became co-host of The Today Show replacing longtime host Bryant Gumbel in early 1997. Prior to that he was a news anchor in New York City and a local talk-show host in Boston, Philadelphia, Providence and Richmond.

"We fire broadcasters for wearing flats with colorful clothes and for having gray hair, we say that's offensive. So would it be offensive to ask Matt Lauer to wear multi-colored, leopard platform stilettos?"
~~ Gloria Buono-Daly
American blogger, AllThingsDigitalMarketing.com founder, responsible for photo-editing this wikimedia photo (above left) of Lauer in stilettos.

On the April 5, 2012 program, Lauer announced he had come to terms on a new contract with NBC News that will reportedly pay $25 million annually.
Do you think Lauer should walk a mile in Curry's shoes? Just think of the places he'll go (if he doesn't trip) and of how stiletto-high the Today ratings would go?

On June 28, 2012, Matt Lauer's then co-host Ann Curry, announced her controversial departure from the today show and it was reported that Matt Lauer was 100 percent behind Ann Curry's ousting. Also it was widely rumored that he fathered a child with Today show coworker, Natalie Morales.

What's your New Year reSEOlution? Top ten reSEOlutions for 2013

“The success of a page should be measured by one criteria: Does the visitor do what you want them to do?”
~~Aaron Wall – SEObook.com

You’ve tried several years before but this time, come January 1, 2013 your New Year reSEOlution © is to be more SEOrganized © , pay more attention to the detail, save on SEM spending and track those milestones once and for all.

You’ve been ready since January 2007 but are so busy that you get off track and end up putting it back in the rainy-day pile for next quarter. Hundreds of rainy days later and you have no idea what your SEO program is let alone the basic concept of relevant keywording and linkbuilding and now MOBILE tail end phrases.

There are probably hundreds to thousands of FREE SEO tips you can incorporate into your internet marketing program. I’ve listed below a top ten list to help jump-start your 2013 New Year reSEOlution. Along the way, I’ve included a few helpful URLs that will provide you with many more SEO tips to choose from.

1. Review your SEO stats for the past 3 years, if possible, and analyze and incorporate SEO strategies and plans accordingly; Make sure your existing marketing program is enhanced with MOBILE campaigns and consider the mindset logic for mobile is different than laptop/desktop

2. Create a spreadsheet of your SEO program and include timelines, milestones and all the other relevant items. Make sure you update and review this sheet on a daily to weekly basis and adjust your SEO strategy accordingly; Don’t forget to add MOBILE CAMPAIGNS and leave plenty of space to add on to as you move down this list

3. Optimize your web site for MOBILE webpages and get them ranked in SERP by cross linking to respective webpage – user agents for search and bots should go to the same webpage version. Create a map. Make sure web and mobile have consistent (vertically oriented) navigation especially since MOBILE devices have touchscreens. I’m amazed at how many web sites are not optimizing their site maps; Yes you’ve had a site map since the web site was first created but is it optimized to include relevant keyword descriptions, etc?

4. Incorporate keywords in your anchor text; this can take a very long time to complete depending on how many links are on your web site. You may want to segment and delegate this to several on your team and schedule updates on a regular basis

5. Update meta tag descriptions regularly, and make sure the characters do not exceed 200 (including spaces); Meta tag description is the snippet that is included with your organic search listing. The more creative and appealing your copy with relevant keywords that match your web site the better chances you have of being indexed more prominently

6. Review title tags and make sure you use 3 to 4 relevant keywords, repeating them each at least 2X but no more than 3X; Characters should not exceed 150 (including spaces) For example, a jewelry site might have the following title: "AnnHarringtonJewelry.com, discount diamond rings, diamond jewelry, diamond engagement rings, antique jewelry, modern jewelry" – note the web site URL address is 1st, then followed by the use of keywords "diamond" used 3X, "rings" used 2X, and "jewelry" used 3X, all relevant to this the web site; All following the SEO industry standard as mentioned in this section (see 1st sentence).

7. Maximize the social networks, e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. For ideas on how, visit these 2 resourceful sites that have plenty of suggestions - searchengineland.com and seomoz.org

8. If you have many images, make sure you are incorporating image tags into your code otherwise you risk spiders and crawlers ignoring your site

9. Review meta tag keywords and make sure a comma is after each keyword and that the max is no more than 250 characters (including spaces); This is a common error that is overlooked, however, this can make or break you organic positioning. Make sure you incorporate end phrases for your mobile campaigns

10. Submit your site to reputable search engines such as Yahoo, DMOZ, Aviva, Business.com, etc.

Remember your 2013 new year reSEOlution program is a WIP (work in progress) and the more regularly you review, update and add to your existing SEO program, the more impact your SEO will have to your bottom line.

Wishing you and yours a healthy and prosperous 2013!

Jane Fonda turns 75

" The challenge is not to be perfect … it’s to be whole … When you can't remember why you're hurt, that's when you're healed ..."
~~ Jane Fonda

Two-time Academy Award ® winning actress, writer, political activist, feminist, former fashion model, and fitness guru

Happy 75th birthday to Jane Fonda. Fonda was born in New York City and daughter of actor Henry Fonda and the Canadian-born socialite Frances Ford Seymour Brokaw (Henry Fonda's 2nd wife).

Her mother committed suicide on her 42nd birthday (April 14, 1950) at a sanitarium in Beacon, New York State where she had been hospitalized due to “emotional deterioration and suicidal tendencies.”

Jane was only 12 years old when her mother died and was told that her mother had died of a heart attack. Later that year (1950) Fonda's father married 22-year-old socialite Susan Blanchard, nine years his daughter's senior; the marriage ended in divorce in 6 years.

Fonda rose to fame in the 1960s with films such as Barbarella and Cat Ballou. She has won two Academy Awards and received several other movie awards and nominations during more than 50 years as an actress. She retired from acting in 1990 and returned to film in 2005 with Monster in Law, followed by Georgia Rule two years later. She also produced and starred in over 20 exercise videos released between 1982 and 1995, and once again in 2010.

Fonda attended the Emma Willard School in Troy, New York, and Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, but dropped out to become a fashion model. She was twice featured on the cover of Vogue .

~~ Jane Fonda:
Prine Time Health – Smiling

On April 5, 2005, Random House released Fonda's autobiography “My Life So Far” which describes her life as a series of three, 30-year long acts, and declares that her third "act" will be her most significant, due in part to her commitment to the Christian religion, and that it will determine the things for which she will be remembered.

Also in 2005, Fonda worked alongside Robin Morgan and Gloria Steinem to co-found the Women's Media Center, an organization that works to amplify the voices of women in the media through advocacy, media and leadership training, and the creation of original content. Fonda currently serves on the board of the organization. Since 2001, Fonda has been a Christian. She published an autobiography in 2005, and in 2011, she published a second memoir, Prime Time.

"I longed for him to love me and see me as an able grown-up.”
~~ Jane Fonda, of her father as quoted from her 2005 book “My Life So Far”.

The Incredible “Hanoing” Jane controversy: Jane Fonda on the NVA anti-aircraft gun. HANOI JANE controversial photo outraged Americans who labeled her “Hanoi Jane.”. In her 2005 autobiography, she writes that she was manipulated into sitting on the battery; she had been horrified at the implications of the pictures and regretted they were taken.

" I would like to say something, not just to Vietnam veterans in New England, but to men who were in Vietnam, who I hurt, or whose pain I caused to deepen because of things that I said or did. I was trying to help end the killing and the war, but there were times when I was thoughtless and careless about it and I'm very sorry that I hurt them. And I want to apologize to them and their families ... I will go to my grave regretting the photograph of me in an anti-aircraft gun, which looks like I was trying to shoot at American planes. It hurt so many soldiers. It galvanized such hostility. It was the most horrible thing I could possibly have done. It was just thoughtless."

~~ Jane Fonda, expressing regret for her actions regarding Vietnam veterans in a 1988 interview with Barbara Walters

Google celebrates 200 years since Brothers Grimm fairy tales 1st edition

Google celebrates the 200th year since the first edition of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales titled “Children’s and Household Tales.”

This first edition is collection of German fairy tales first published on December 20, 1812 by the Grimm brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm. The collection is commonly known today as Grimm's Fairy Tales (German: Grimms Märchen).

The first volume of the first edition was published, containing 86 stories; the second volume of 70 stories followed in 1814.

For the second edition, two volumes were issued in 1819 and a third in 1822, totalling 170 tales. The third edition appeared in 1837; fourth edition, 1840; fifth edition, 1843; sixth edition, 1850; seventh edition, 1857.

Stories were added, and also subtracted, from one edition to the next, until the seventh held 211 tales. All editions were extensively illustrated, first by Philipp Grot Johann and, after his death in 1892, by Robert Leinweber.

There was much controversy from first volumes, although titled "Children's Tales,” many argued they were not suitable for children. For example, the wicked mother of the first edition in Snow White and Hansel and Gretel (shown in original Grimm stories as Hansel and Grethel) was changed to a stepmother.

Also, they removed sexual references—such as Rapunzel's innocently asking why her dress was getting tight around her belly, and thus naïvely revealing her pregnancy and the prince's visits to her stepmother—but, in many respects, violence, particularly when punishing villains, was increased.

Today, December 20, 2012 Google paid homage the Brothers Grimm works with a Grimm inspired interactive doodle that brings you through their most popular tales from Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretal, Sleeping Beauth and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Merry Christmas America ... Happy New Year too! Enjoy my favorite chocolate mousse recipe.

"...When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things -- not the great occasions -- give off the greatest glow of happiness..."
~~ Bob Hope

(May 29, 1903 – July 27, 2003)English-born American comedian and actor on Broadway, in vaudeville, movies, television, and radio.

Like many households during Christmas season, in the center of our table you will find all sorts of desserts --cookies, cakes, Italian pastries, etc.

Every once in a while, I would bring that favorite, rich treat -- dark, decadent chocolate mousse. What makes mousse so unique is the light and airy texture from air bubbles.

Depending on preparation and mix intensity mousse variations range from light and fluffy to creamy and thick and can be sweet, bitter or savory. The great thing about this dessert is the prep time is only six minutes and then all you need do is refrigerate it for an hour.

INGREDIENTS:
[Use numbers in parentheses for larger quantity servings
► 1 (4) teaspoon unflavored gelatin
► 1 (4) tablespoon cold water
► 2 (8) tablespoons boiling water
► 1/2 (4) cup sugar (can substitute with splenda, equal, etc.)
► 1/4 (1) cup cocoa (AT LEAST 60% cocoa concentration for best flavor)
► 1 (4) cup whipping cream (can substitute w yogurt but texture will change
► 1 (4) teaspoon vanilla extract
► chocolate curls

OPTIONAL:
► 2 tablespoons of instant espresso
► Be imaginative. Try something different and share it by commenting on this blog
► I've tried with the usual raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, but also tried cinnamon sticks, walnuts, cranberries, etc.

Step 1 : Gelatin mixture (3 min)
► In a small bowl sprinkle unflavored gelatin over the cold water; let stand 1 minute
►Add the boiling water, stirring, until gelatin is dissolved.

Step 2 : Mousse (3 min)
► In a separate bowl combine the sugar, cocoa, whipping cream, and vanilla; stir to blend
► Beat on medium speed of electric mixer, scraping the bottom of the bowl a few times, until the mixture is stiff
► Add the gelatin mixture and beat until well blended.

Step 3 : Spoon in dish and chill (60 min)
► Spoon the chocolate mousse into dessert dishes or glasses
► Sprinkle mousse with chocolate curls, if desired
►Chill for at least 1 hour before serving makes eight 6oz servings (parenthesis numbers make up to 32 6oz servings

Total time - 1 Hour and 6 Minutes

Happy 197th B-Day to world’s first known computer programmer, Ada Lovelace

The analytical engine weaves algebraic equations just as the Jacquard loom weaves flowers and leaves.”
~~ Ada Lovelace

from notes on Menabrae’s Memoir on the Analytic Engine, 1843

Did you know that the world's first known computer programmer and the founder of computer science was a woman? Hard to imagine the first geek being a female in the mid 1800th century. Happy 197th B-Day to Ada Lovelace (10 December 1815 – 27 November 1852). Ada was an English mathematician and writer chiefly known for her work on Charles Babbage's early mechanical general-purpose computer, the analytical engine. Her notes on the engine include what is recognized as the first algorithm intended to be processed by a machine; thanks to this, she is sometimes considered the world's first computer programmer, founder and prophet of scientific computing and enchantress of numbers.

As a young adult, she took an interest in mathematics, and in particular Babbage's work on the analytical engine. Between 1842 and 1843, she translated an article by Italian mathematician Luigi Menabrea on the engine, which she supplemented with a set of notes of her own. These notes contain what is considered the first computer program — that is, an algorithm encoded for processing by a machine.

Born Augusta “Ada” Byron on December 10, 1815 to poet George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron, and his wife, Anne Isabella "Annabella" Milbanke, Baroness Byron. Byron, and many of those who knew Byron, expected that the baby would be "the glorious boy", and there was some disappointment at the contrary news. As a child, Ada was often ill and when she was eight, she experienced headaches that obscured her vision. She became paralysed in n June 1829, from the measles. She was subjected to continuous bed rest and by 1831 she was able to walk with crutches.
At the age of 17 her remarkable mathematical abilities began to emerge, and her interest in mathematics dominated the majority of her adult life.

In a letter to Lady Byron, De Morgan suggested that her daughter's skill in mathematics could lead her to become "an original mathematical investigator, perhaps of first-rate eminence.

On 8 July 1835 she married William King, 8th Baron King, becoming Baroness King. They had three children; Byron born 12 May 1836, Anne Isabella (called Annabella, later Lady Anne Blunt) born 22 September 1837 and Ralph Gordon born 2 July 1839. Immediately after the birth of Annabella, Lady King experienced "a tedious and suffering illness, which took months to cure".[29] In 1838, her husband was created Earl of Lovelace. Thus, she was styled "The Right Honourable the Countess of Lovelace" for most of her married life.

The computer language Ada, created on behalf of the United States Department of Defense, was named after Ada Lovelace. The reference manual for the language was approved on 10 December 1980, and the Department of Defense Military Standard for the language, "MIL-STD-1815", was given the number of the year of her birth. Since 1998, the British Computer Society has awarded a medal in her name[71] and in 2008 initiated an annual competition for women students of computer science.[

The influence of the media is the most powerful economic and cultural force today. By deciding who gets to talk, what shapes the debate, who writes and what is important enough to report, the media shapes our understanding of who we are and what we do.
