On Monday, June 3, 2013, over 250 guests -- philanthropists, humanitarians, celebrities, activists and leaders -- gathered for a night at Stage 48 in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen to celebrate the opening of the newly christened Lynn Redgrave Theater (formerly 45 Bleecker Street) in honor of the late Lynn Redgrave.

The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) a non-profit legal and educational organization and long time collaborator with Culture Project was also honored for its commitment to advancing and protecting human rights.

The full-house event was hosted by Kyra Sedgwick, Golden Globe & Emmy Award-winning Actress with Honorary Gala Chairs Vanessa Redgrave, CBE –Academy, Golden Globe, Emmy, Tony and SAG Award-winning Actress, Activist and sister to Lynn Redgrave, and Liam Neeson, OBE – Honorary Gala Chair, Academy, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominee.

Culture Project believes theater is an effective agent of social change and is dedicated to fostering the creative growth of artists. Sedgwick and Redgrave performed in the New York production of The Exonerated which focused attention on six exonerates, wrongfully imprisoned, some for decades, and then released without recognition of wrongdoing or compensation. Incidentally, Culture Project was first propelled into national prominence by the acclaimed production of The Exonerated.

Lynn Redgrave: Lynn Redgrave was born in London into a family of actors and enjoyed a remarkable career on stage, screen, and beyond spanning four decades. She was nominated for 3 Tony Awards, 2 Oscars, 2 Emmys, a Grammy and most recently was the recipient of a 2008 New York EmmyMs. Redgrave was inducted into the Theater Hall in January, 2009. Lynn Redgrave (67) passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at her home in Connecticut.
